ROSS Hannah's 95th-minute strike at Aldershot may have sent Barrow AFC fans into raptures – but it cost one gambler more than £2,000.

Hannah stepped up and fired home a 35-yard free-kick stunner to earn the nine-man Bluebirds at 2-2 draw at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.

The point ensured Barrow remained within a win of the National League play-off places, but not everyone was as obviously delighted as the striker and his team-mates.

Soon after the game had finished, Twitter used Gary Jones Tweeted a picture of an accumulator betting slip.

Jones has placed a single £2.50 bet for Aldershot, Notts County, Fulham, Northampton and Preston North End to all win their games, with both teams scoring in each.

With 94 minutes of the clock at Aldershot, he was quids in and set to land a £2,317 pot from his gamble – but then Hannah stepped up and struck home a superb set-piece to ruin his afternoon.

Jones Tweeted Hannah, and said: “Cheers mate, you only cost me £2,317 with your equaliser.”

In a further Tweet, after Hannah responded, he added: “Don't get me wrong, I could cry, but nothing I can do about it. No point dwelling on it.”

Hannah told the Evening Mail: “He tweeted back and he took it well surprisingly. I wouldn't have.

“I said to him 'for what it's worth, it was a good goal'.”
