TRANMERE Rovers hosts Barrow AFC in the FA Trophy tomorrow in good form and with a well-known striker firing in the goals.

Rovers are unbeaten in six matches across the National League and FA Trophy – a run which sees them sitting third in the table and looking to advance to the last-four of the latter competition (3pm kick-off).

A midweek 2-1 triumph over Boreham Wood came on the back on an early brace from former Bluebirds front-man Andy Cook – who has 17 league goals to his name this season having established himself well following his Holker Street exit.

Though they suffered three defeats in four National League games between mid-December and late-January, Tranmere have rebounded well since, and have not suffered a reversal since going down 2-0 at home to fellow promotion contenders Dagenham and Redbridge last month.

They sit nine points above Barrow and just four points off leaders Lincoln, while they came through a replay against Chelmsford City to make it through to the last-eight of the Trophy.

Rovers have never won the competition, having only been relegated to the National League for the first time at the end of the 2014/15 season.

Cook has four goals in his last three outings for the Prenton Park outfit, while another former Bluebird in the shape of central defender Steve McNulty will line up in defence tomorrow alongside ex-AFC loanee Ritchie Sutton, who has found himself a regular in the team this season after being on the fringes last year.

The sides have met twice already this term, with Tranmere winning easily 2-0 at home in the National League in August – Barrow's first away game of the season, which saw Cook return to haunt them in front of the travelling support – before AFC triumphed 2-1 at Holker Street in the FA Cup, when Paul Turnbull and Richie Bennett netted for the home side.

They are due to face-off again in the National League on Tuesday, March 7, with Micky Mellon bringing his team up to Furness.
