BARROW AFC have completed a double signing ahead of Saturday's match against Torquay United.

They have brought in defenders Jordon Thompson and Paul Bignot – the former on a youth loan and the latter on non-contract terms.

Thompson has joined the Bluebirds from Coventry City, while Bignot – brother of AFC back-room staff member Marcus – has been without a club since being released by Newport County at the end of last season.

Both men will be available to feature against Torquay.

They arrive at Holker Street less than a week after fellow defender Dave Nieksens injured his knee in the 1-0 loss at Tranmere Rovers – an injury which will be assessed by a specialist next week and which is set to sideline him for some time.

Thierry Audel is also injured after breaking his arm in training. He faces eight weeks out of the squad.

Thompson was part of Coventry's Under-18s set-up last season, and made his first-team debut on the last day of the League One campaign.

Bignot, 31, has played for Crewe Alexandra, Plymouth Argyle and Grimsby Town, among others, during a 13-year professional career.
