BARROW AFC have snapped up experienced Grimsby Town midfielder Chris Clements on loan.

The 27-year-old has been signed on a three-month deal and will go straight into the squad for the Bluebirds’ National League home game against Maidstone United.

Clements has scored four goals in 17 appearances for the League Two Mariners this term. After starting his career in the Crewe Alexandra academy set-up,Clements made more than 100 appearances for Hednesford Town before spending five years at Mansfield.

The attacking midfielder scored ten goals in 132 games for the Stags and played under the management team of former and current AFC bosses Paul Cox and Micky Moore.

Clements’ arrival is timely for fellow Brummie Moore, who will be without several regulars for today’s game.

Bedsente Gomis is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season at Sutton last weekend. He joins Dave Nieskens (knee), Thierry Audel (broken arm), Moussa Diarra and Adi Yussuf (both hamstring) on the sidelines, with Jack Barthram (hamstring) rated as 50/50 to be fit, but more likely to return for Tuesday’s trip to Hartlepool United.

Clements is the fourth new player to arrive at Holker Street in the past fortnight, following deals for Jordon Thompson, Paul Bignot and Tony Diagne.

Meanwhile, Barrow AFC defender Dan Jones been called into the England C squad for their next training camp.
