BARROW AFC duo Jordan Williams and Joel Dixon have been called up to the England C side.

The pair are in manager Paul Fairclough's squad for the forthcoming game against Estonia Under-23s on November 15 in Tallinn.

Both have been called up by Fairclough in the past, with goalkeeper Dixon named in a training squad last September and being placed on standby for the squad itself in March, and winger Williams making his debut against Slovakia Under-21s at Sutton United in June.

Williams – who misses Barrow's match at Woking on Saturday through suspension – has made great strides at Holker Street since signing from Northwich Victoria at the end of last year, penning a new contract in the summer which takes him to the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

He has started all but one match for the Bluebirds since then, scoring three goals in 16 matches this season.

His form earned him attention during the summer from several Football League clubs, but while several bids were made for his services, none matched the valuation put on him by the club – believed to be around £250,000.

Dixon, meanwhile, has been an ever-present between the sticks since moving to Barrow for the start of last season.

He has kept five clean sheets so far this term and has helped the team concede the joint-sixth fewest goals of any side in the National League, a run which has seen them go 11 matches unbeaten and climb to fourth in the table.
