BARROW AFC have completed a move for Chester defensive midfielder Kingsley James.

The 25-year-old South Yorkshireman joins the Bluebirds on loan for the rest of the season from their National League relegation rivals.

James made his AFC debut as a second-half substitute against Maidstone United at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday.

The Sheffield United youth product played against Barrow for Chester earlier in the season, and has come up against them for Macclesfield Town and FC Halifax Town in recent years, appearing in the last two FA Trophy finals for those sides – winning it with the Shaymen.

He is the fourth loan signing in manager Ady Pennock’s AFC squad, along with defenders Ollie Cook and Calum Macdonald and forward Luke James, all of whom featured in the midweek draw with Sutton United.

James made 11 Football League appearances for Port Vale between 2011 and 2013, and has played for Chasetown and Hereford United during his career. He has four England C caps to his name.

He moved to Chester from Macclesfield last summer on a two-year deal when Steve Burr was in charge of the Cestrians, with one-time AFC assistant Marcus Bignot now taking the reins. He has made 35 appearances for Chester in all competitions this season, scoring twice.
