HARD-AS-GRANITE centre-half Danny Livesey will be fit to feature for Barrow AFC at Lincoln City on Saturday despite requiring stitches to a head injury picked up in midweek.

Livesey needed three stitches after a collision in the 4-1 win at Southport on Tuesday.

Despite the knock, the Bluebirds captain played the full 90 minutes at Haig Avenue and boss Paul Cox has no worries about him featuring against the National League leaders this weekend.

“Dan had another three stitches,” said Cox of a player who has already been sidelined once this year with a knee problem which he played through for several games before needing a rest. “We kind of laughed about it, because he's having so many stitches and knocks. But I think that epitomises what he does for this football club. He puts himself on the line and he is a proper, real defender.

“Danny will be fine for the game on Saturday.”

Sean Beeley will not feature at Lincoln as he continues to recover from a groin inflammation, but – Livesey aside – Cox reported only the 'normal bumps and bruises from a game' among those players who featured at Southport.
