BARROW AFC boss Paul Cox admitted to thinking his side had snatched a late victory from their 1-1 draw against Macclesfield.
Ben Tomlinson rippled the net with a header from a Simon Grand cross in injury time, with the Bluebirds bench rising to celebrate what they thought was a goal.
They quickly realised the effort had gone wide, with Cox accepting a draw as a fair result.
“I did think he’d scored,” he said. “I think all the bench came off – it was a fantastic ball in, he has got a yard in front of his man and that epitomised our day today, in terms of that final touch in the opposition box.
“We were that yard off, but you’ve got to give credit to Macclesfield, who have come here and played really well.”
Jason Walker scored from the spot in the first half to cancel out Danny Whitehead’s opener for the Silkmen.
