BARROW AFC boss Paul Cox has expressed his sympathy for axed Welling United manager Loui Fazakerley.

The Wings manager was sacked less than 48 hours after Barrow inflicted a 2-1 defeat on them at Park View Road.

It stretched Welling's winless league run to 10 matches and left them four points adrift of safety in the National League.

Fazackerley was dismissed after just 10 months in charge and Cox, who himself took on the AFC job in November after the sacking of Darren Edmondson, empathised with his plight.

“It's a horrible business and people pay a price,” said Cox, for whom Saturday's victory was only a second league win since he took charge of the Bluebirds. “It's a result-based business and I don't like to see anybody losing their job.

“I think the lad has done a really good job down there and it's just unfortunate that this is the business we're in.

“I'm sure he will bounce back, I'm sure he will pick up another job and will go from strength to strength.

“I learned more about the business when I was out of a job than I did when I was in it.

“It's just unfortunate. It's a cruel business sometimes.”
