BARROW AFC’s board will meet on Sunday morning to cement plans for the summer.

The club’s directors will discuss issues such as the development of Holker Street, the location of the players’ training base and the timescale of signings.

Owner Paul Casson – who is in town with wife Stephanie and son Andrew this week – will lead talks, involving manager Paul Cox, as the Bluebirds plot the way forward.

“We have a full board meeting on Sunday and all the issues will be discussed then,” said AFC chief executive Austin Straker. “Stadium plans, repairs, renovations – you name it.

“There will be announcements coming after that.

“It will be setting the agenda for the rest of the close-season. Seeing what is immediately needed for the ground and setting out a timescale for the training facility and new players. It will all be rolled together.

“We need to firm a few things up before Paul Cox can start making offers to some of the lads – based on where training is going to be and such.

“We have been looking at the training base and a firm decision will be made on Sunday.”

Barrow AFC will auction off players’ shirts following the end of the National League season on Saturday.

Jerseys worn by Bluebirds players on the field – and not already promised to individual sponsors – will be the subject of a silent auction in the club shop, the Crossbar and corporate hospitality

Bids, starting at £50, can be made via forms available in all three locations, with 10 per cent of the proceeds donated to the Bobby Moore Foundation.

The highest bids will be given a choice of shirt from those available.
