IAN Evatt is confident Barrow AFC can derail Solihull Moors’ impressive start to the season - providing his side play to their potential.

Moors head to Holker Street for tomorrow’s Vanarama National League clash sitting in the play-off places in the early-season standings after finishing 18th last season.

But AFC are on a high as well after narrowly avoiding relegation during the 2017-18 campaign and manager Evatt is in no doubt his side are capable of defending their unbeaten home record.

“It’s going to be a tough game,” said Evatt. “They’ve had a good start to the season and, like all of our opponents, it will be a difficult game.

“But, many times, I’ve said that if we play to the potential that I think we can play at, I’m confident that we can win any game.

“We’ve got a fantastic home record that we must try to keep up.”

Solihull’s strong start has been down to their impressive home form as well, with the side now managed by former England and Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Tim Flowers picking up 10 of their 13 points so far at Damson Park.

That included a 1-0 win over title hopefuls Wrexham on Bank Holiday Monday, with Flowers pleased to see his side swiftly rebound from a defeat at Harrogate Town two days prior.

“It was a magnificent performance coming off the back of a disappointing result at Harrogate,” Flowers told the Solihull Observer.

“It’s always difficult on a quick turnaround like that.

“We’ve got a small squad and every credit has to go to every single one of them.”

Should Barrow win tomorrow, they will have already equalled last season’s tally of home wins.

And while he believes there is still more to come, Evatt is delighted with how his reign at Holker Street has started.

“I’ve obviously really enjoyed it,” said Evatt. “Our fans are enjoying our style of play and I think people need to realise that we’re very much a new group.

“From my own aspect and goals, I think we’re underachieving - I think we should be doing better.

“This coming month, we’ve got to try to beat the 10 points which we have earned and then we should hopefully be in the top seven or eight come the end of September.”
