IAN Evatt has emphasised the importance of having a versatile squad ahead of Barrow AFC’s home game with Solihull Moors tomorrow.

Recent weeks have seen the Bluebirds boss pick differing squads depending on the style of opponent his team are facing.

Most notably, Dan Jones has moved into the left centre-back role which has offered more technical ball playing skills out from the back four.

Along with this, Jack Barthram was given the nod over Connor Brown against Braintree Town at right-back last Saturday, although the latter returned to the side at Salford City on Bank Holiday Monday.

Evatt noted how important it is to have differing personnel and styles in a squad, along with how much he will need every single player he has got this season to be competitive in the Vanarama National League.

“It’s very important, as every team is different,” said Evatt.

“We’ll need to pick teams who I feel will be the best team to beat the opposition. I’ll do that in every game - horses for courses - I’ll pick players for the right teams.

“It’s very much a team game nowadays. There are so many games where you need everybody which will improve the outcomes.

“It is very important to me that everybody chips in with their efforts when called upon.”

Injured trio Jacob Blyth, Rhys Turner and Astley Mulholland are poised to return soon too.
