IAN Evatt wants his Barrow AFC side to build on victory over Havant and Waterlooville as they head to the Shay tonight.

The Bluebirds take on another side who claimed all three points on the opening day when they take on FC Halifax Town (7.45pm kick-off).

Evatt is refusing to get carried away on the back of a single result on Saturday, and wants his side to maintain a steady bearing and build on their first efforts when they head to West Yorkshire.

“You can't get too high when you're having your highs and too low when you're having your lows, it's as simple as that,” said Evatt.

“We've got to maintain consistency, go out there and take belief from Saturday that what we do works, and grow. I think this team still has a lot of growing to do.”

He added: “It's important that we build on Saturday. We haven't achieved anything yet.

“This is a new group with 10 debuts on Saturday, and we are only going to get better – that's what's exciting for me, that we haven't seen anything yet. I think we're going to carry on to improve and go again.”

Barrow will continue to be without the suspended Lee Molyneux tonight – the full-back having been sent off while playing for Chorley in last season's National League North play-offs – while Astley Mulholland is still looking to gain full fitness following issues with his hamstring.

Both Josh Kay and Rhys Turner were seen to be struggling slightly towards the end of Saturday's win, but Evatt reported no issues other than tiredness and a little cramp from the season-opener.
