VICKERSTOWN Under-sevens are celebrating a fine first season together after picking up a clutch of trophies.

The Walney side claimed their third summer tournament victory of the year when they won the Haverigg six-s-side competition.

It followed a run of events where they never failed to reach the final – winning two and losing two of their previous big matches, and being beaten by Walney Island after penalty shootouts in the other two.

At Haverigg, Vickerstown were unbeaten and did not concede a single goal throughout their matches.

The final went to penalties and stand-in goal keeper Austin Forsyth stepped up to the mark and saved three out of four shots he faced – the other went wide.

All of the team scored at least one goal each during the tournament.
