SWARTHMOOR Junior Football Club have moved the goalposts for success thanks to a grant to buy new equipment.

The Park Road club received funding from Lakes Leisure to replace the old nets.

Chairman Richard Tomsett said: “We are extremely grateful to Gary Ronson and Lakes Leisure for providing us with the grant.

“It has allowed the club to purchase new portable goalposts which replaced some old fixed posts which were becoming unfit for purpose.

“The portable goals also gave us the opportunity to resize the pitch to conform with FA guidelines.”

Lakes Leisure is a charitable trust that aims to promote sports, recreation, arts and well-being in South Lakeland.

A statement from the group said: “The trust has made many wards from its legacy fund and is pleased to offer support to Swarthmoor Football Club.

“Trustees are particularly keen to promote participation in sports in the local area, and help to improve facilities for local clubs.

“We wish the club, and all its age groups well for the future and hope the grant helps sustain facilities for many years.”
