DALTON Aces swept the board to land all three cups on Barrow and District Junior Girls Football League KO Cup finals day at Holker Street.

The Dalton girls triumphed in the under-10s, under-12s and under-14s showpieces on a day of six finals at the home of Barrow AFC.

In the under-10s final, they overcame stubborn resistance from a battling Barrow Celtic side who held out until the final two minutes.

Having kept the favourites for the trophy at bay with some heroic defending, Celtic were unfortunate to lose out when a ball into the area was half-blocked, but spun into the air, over the keeper and into the far corner of the net.

The under-12s final was even closer, as nothing could separate the Aces and their Braves club-mates in normal or extra-time, with the Aces eventually triumphing 3-1 on penalties.

The Aces again triumphed against the Braves at under-14s level, a single goal deciding the tie.

In the Shield finals, Ulverston Rangers were winners at under-10s and under-14s levels, winning the former 5-0 against Dalton Braves and the latter 1-0 over Kendal United.

The under-14s were joint-league winners with Dalton Braves and, in an evenly-matched final, Mollie Quirk kept them in the game with a number of high-quality saves.

The decisive goal came when a great pass from Didi Stoller put Molly Battersby through on goal and she fired home a great finish.

Barrow Celtic completed the line-up of winners as they beat Ulverston 3-1 in the under-12s Shield.
