Carlisle 2nds 0 South Lakes 16

HAT-TRICKS from Gemma Jupp and Anna Stable ensured South Lakes did not suffer an unlucky 13th in the Cumbria League.

The leaders kept up their 100 per cent record with a 16-goal win in Carlisle, with a perfect 13 wins from as many matches.

The Reds topped their 15-1 home victory over the same opponents on the second weekend of the season to maintain their six-point lead at the summit.

They account for almost half the goals Carlisle have conceded this season – notching 31 of the 65 scored against the North Cumbrians.

Within a minutes of the match starting, Jupp scored the opener goal, followed closely by her second.

Emma Armstrong grabbed number three, with Stable adding the fourth as the pattern of the match was set.

When South Lakes were awarded a short corner, Rebecca Cook injected the ball out to Stable, who took a strike and scored the fifth.

Natalie Knowles made it 6-0 on 21 minutes, with defender Catherine Cooke finishing off number seven.

Sarah Robinson saw a shot on goal stopped on the line by an opponent’s foot, and Rebekah Nuttall stepped up to take the penalty flick and increase the margin once again.

Two minutes later, Armstrong scored her second of the afternoon, making it 9-0 at half-time.

Carlisle did take on South Lakes keeper Joy Potter, but she made some fantastic saves to ensure they could not break their duck.

There was a quieter spell at the start of the second half, but after 10 minutes the visitors were awarded a short corner. Cook injected the ball to Holly Nuttall, whose shot was deflected by the keeper out to Cook, who finished herself.

Within two minutes, Lois Viney scored the 11th from open play, before Holly Nuttall followed up with number 12.

Jupp completed her hat-trick before another short corner saw a direct strike from Lesley Davey find the target.

Knowles scored the penultimate goal from open play, with Stable wrapping it up with number 16.

South Lakes are away again this weekend, when they travel to Dalston.
