WINDERMERE held on to top spot in North Division Two West on the back of a comfortable 7-1 victory over Oxton seconds.

Will Dolman scored a hat-trick at Lakes School as Mere maintain their two-point lead over Brooklands MU.

Wirral side Oxton surprised their hosts with a well-worked goal in the opening minutes, but Windermere settled to their game plan and led 2-1 by half-time.

Constant pressure brought five more goals without reply in the second half to settle the contest.

Dolman's hat-trick included two from penalty corner drag flicks, while Harry Jackson (2), Joe Kay and Isaac Ravenhill also scored for the team's seventh win in eight matches.

Mere's ladies were ring-rusty after a two-week lay-off, and were held to a 1-1 draw by Lancaster seconds in their Lancashire Central Women’s League encounter.

Lancaster went ahead just before interval, but Windermere gradually began to find their rhythm.

Dangerous runs from Kitty Brownell and Cat Drury tested Lancaster’s mettle, before Evie Turner raced into the shooting circle to score a well-deserved equaliser.

They travel to Lancaster University on Saturday to take on Lancaster Nomads.

Windermere Ladies seconds won 1-0 at Wigton in the Netherwood Development League.
