THE young cricketers of Millom St James are the best in the county after some impressive batting and bowling displays.
The team of 10 year 5 and 6 children won both the Barrow district finals and the Cumbria event to be crowned champions.
India Jackson, Emma Ivison, Rio Waker, Harvey Burch, Callum Harrison, Cade Heavyside, Declan Tyson, Callum High, Jackson Evans and Reece Bridges produced a string of impressive displays in Barrow and Keswick.
After coming through the area finals against 11 other teams, they were one of 12 teams from each of Cumbria's six districts to contest the county event.
They won all five of their group matches and went on to defeat Stanwix School, Carlisle, in the final.
The children have taken part in Chance to Shine sessions run by Jake Woods, of Cumbria Cricket, and the boys also play for Millom CC, with the girls in the South Lakes Maidens set-up.
