YOUNG fighters from Furness Judo Club have produced some superb results in their latest tournaments.

They fought in two Kendal Coloured Belt Competitions, bringing back a haul of six medals, while Lewis Burns enjoyed success at Edinburgh.

In the May event in Kendal, Kavan Burns fought well against some tough opposition in the pre-Cadet group to come away with a well deserved bronze.

In the minors group, Tara and Evan Allen and Lewis Burns all competed.

Tara showed some great skill on the ground to win two fights by ippon hold downs and take gold.

Evan was narrowly beaten in his first fight by a bigger player, coming close with a few throwing attempts himself.

He dominated a tough second fight to win by two wazaris and land a silver.

Lewis won both of his fights by ippon, the first with a hold down after throwing with two wazaris, and the fight with a spectacular throw, as he too took a gold.

The June competition saw Kaven return and land bronze as he fought valiantly against some bigger, tougher opponents.

There was another gold for Lewis, who had three fights and three wins, all by the maximum ippon score.

There was also a bronze for Lewis at the Sportif International Competition at Meadowbank Sports Centre, Edinburgh.

He fought well in this first major event, with competitors from all around the UK, Europe, and as far afield as Canada taking part.

Lewis won two fights and lost two against some tough opponents.
