CLOSE to 50 runners laced up their shoes to tackle the Glaxo summer fun run.

While the adults tackled the 10k course, the children competed over a shorter one-mile distance.

Samual Yearling led the field home in a time of 5:35, ahead of the host club's Scott Fisher and Barrow Amateur Boxing Club's Connor Braithwaite.

Jamie-Leigh Tyson from Barrow Striders was the first girl home in a time of 6:47.
