Ibis U14s 2 Barrow Celtic U14s 1

IBIS became the first Kendal side to win the Barrow and District Junior Girls Football League Under-14s KO Cup as they saw off a determined Celtic side.

The South-East Cumbrians completed the league and cup double after coming from a goal behind at Holker Street.

The newly-crowned league champions were made to work hard as they fought to keep eager Celtic at bay in an evenly-contested but goalless first half.

The second half started with a bang as elusive Celtic striker Kira Boswell cut in from the right and gave her side the lead with a powerful shot.

Ibis fought back to draw level when Holly Miles crossed for Ella Litze to score.

Both sides battled hard, which brought the best out of the rival goalkeepers – Chloe Richardson, of Ibis and Celtic’s Catherine Harold.

The winner came in the final minute, when Litze cut through the Celtic defence and passed to Miles, who finished with a simple tap-in.

Outstanding in a thrilling game were Gabby Johnson, for Celtic, and Alyssa Noble, for Ibis.

As well as the three KO Cup finals, there were three matches for the Community Shield played at Ormsgill.

In the under-10s final, Barrow Celtic defeated Dalton Braves 2-0, Kendal United won the under-12s match 2-1 against Celtic and Dalton Braves and Duddon Sports drew 1-1 in the under-14s final.
