AS the season draws towards it conclusion, Hawcoat Park seek one more win to secure safety this weekend, writes JASON MEADOWS.

Furness and Windermere go in search of Cumbria League points, while Ambleside host Furness A.

Keswick v Windermere

WINDERMERE face the prospect of a tough, bruising encounter in the Cumbria League at Keswick.

The Ambers go strong, with Jamie Hardman, Dan Harrison and Leigh Todd the front men taking on the hosts.

Moses Dawson will be in the scrum half role, giving ball to fly-half Bertie Hodgson, who can take teams to pieces when on top form.

Skipper James Crawford will lead from full-back and his kicking game will be a massive issue.

Centre field will be taken up by Josh Holmes and Rory Hodgson, whose pairing has borne fruit of late.

John Sheasby will be looking to back-row partners Tony Hayes and former hooker Joe Turner to keep up with play to get to the break down first and tidy up any loose ball.

With Duncan and Tony Atkinson out on the flanks, try time could be any time as they can get over the whitewash as and when required.

Tyldesley v Hawcoat Park

AFTER their superb home victory against Oldham, Hawcoat face a Tyldesley side one place below them in North Lancs/Cumbria.

On the back of two massive wins, the Maroon and Whites are almost safe, with one victory in their last three games good enough to keep them up. Hawcoat are unchanged in the main, with only Grady Slater pushing for a place in the travelling team.

Wide men Liam Murray, Robert Shepherd and Matt Burrows are more than capable on their day of scoring and will look to get hands on the ball.

Johnny Burrows was superb at scrum half last week, linking up with James Howden at fly-half.

Second-row Ash Mowat’s all round game has improved no end this season and he will be looked on to give the side get up and go.

Hawcoat Park A v Keswick A

(Hawcoat Park, 3pm)

PARK A managed a high-scoring win over Whitehaven last week – with several home players helping to fill out the visitors’ squad – and they welcome Keswick in Cumbria League Two tomorrow.

It will be business as usual, with Adam Williamson linking up with Euan James. Rodney Odondi needs to see more of the ball so he can show his skills, so Dave Wynne will no doubt be looking to give him every opportunity.

Colt Joe Rea will be looking for game time.

Furness v Morseby

(Strawberry Grounds, 3pm)

AFTER a 25-12 defeat at Moresby last week, Furness hope for a quick reverse tomorrow in the Cumbria League.

The Blues are virtually unchanged, with Jordan Ashton looking to keep his scrum half shirt and link up with Steve Perry at stand-off.

Team leader Joe Mallinson will rally the troops to get on the front foot from the off, with Rhys Studt not holding back in his pursuit of points.

There is no Leon Sweet, so Dillon Tapatu or Adam Pearce will take up a front-row role.

Will Hetherington will need plenty of ball out on the wing, as will Tez Nueto as he looks to add to his season’s try tally.

George Smith will be bringing up the rear at full-back, looking to organise the defence as well as attack when the chance arises.

James Tyson will be looking to develop further from the second row, with Paul Dean more than capable of holding his own in the field of play.

Ambleside v Furness A

(Galava Park, 2.15pm)

COMMUNICATION and understanding between Ambleside and Furness see last week’s game moved to this week after a shortage of referees.

Tomorrow’s fixture is a Cumbria League Two double-header.

It is business as usual for Ambleside up front, with Steve Bragg, Gregg Stephenson and Paul Aires taking up the mantle.

Skipper Paul Longster teams up with Andrew Clayton to make an immense front five.

Keenan Longster will be looking to his forwards to give him a fighting chance of good ball so he can help release the back line and stand-off Will Lord.

The back row will be important and, with Dave Clarke, Rory Seeking and the returning Greg Manchino in there, the break down is going to be hotly contested.

There was no team sheet available from Furness.
