HAWCOAT Park, Furness and Ambleside all enjoy home comforts as they look to pull off victories against Cumbrian opposition.

Millom and Windermere have no game.

Hawcoat Park v Upper Eden

(Hawcoat Park, 2.15pm)

WITH both teams at home tomorrow and a junior rugby cup quarter-final on Sunday, Hawcoat Park will be a hot-bed of rugby this weekend.

The first team face last week’s opponents Upper Eden, who were awarded the win last time out after the game was abandoned due to one of the home side’s players suffering a broken leg with the score at 10-0 in their favour.

A big boost ahead of tomorrow’s North Lancs/Cumbria League match will see Hawcoat having a full front row to pick from, with Jason Priss, Adam Grainger, John Donnan, Ryan Milner and Brad Morrow vying for the three shirts.

After a great return to the side last week, Callum Ramsey will no doubt join Ashley Mowat in a strong second row.

The back row has a number of options available as well, but Will Mallinson should be teaming up with Matty Sayle and Mike Lightfoot, although Tim Clarke may throw a spanner in the works, having travelled last week.

Continuity is key and, with Antony Munday and James Howden as the link men again, they should be able to get the ball away to the forwards.

A strong back line sees Grady Slater and Jack Sutherland teaming up with Chris Burns and Matt Burrows who are more than capable of finishing off moves out wide.

Hawcoat Park A face Whitehaven at home in confident mood following a superb home win last time out against Ambleside In Cumbria League Two.

The team is likely to be the same in the main, but with a few players returning the selectors have a job on their hands.

Jack Shannon will be looking to keep his scrum half jersey, with fellow ex-Colt Euan James pulling the strings from fly-half.

Luke Shaw and Rory Sayle will be competing to partner skipper Martin Kennedy in the engine-room second row, backing up a front row made up of Ryan Brown, Paul Woodburn, Jordan Garnett and Matt ‘Rocker’ Robson.

Furness v Moresby

(Strawberry Grounds, 2.15pm)

THE Strawberry Grounds outfit will be hoping for a few drier days to give the pitch some respite as they look to take on the might of Moresby.

With yet another weekend missed because of the appalling weather, Furness want to get their show back on the road and get themselves back up the Cumbria League table.

With Sam Dutton and George Smith in the half-back roles, they are in safe hands in terms of link-up play between forwards and backs and will look to exploit any opportunities that come their way.

Key men, in skipper Joe Mallinson and the strong-running Ryhs Studt, will look to get their team-mates running in the right direction, something they are more than capable of doing on their day.

The pack will be hoping for the return of Leon Sweet and Martin Ward to bolster their efforts, with ever-present Cameron McClure always on hand to pull the blue jersey on.

With Sam Attard and Tez Nueto in the back division, there is always a chance of points on the board as they put their skill sets out there for all to see.

Furness A are on the road as they play Carlisle in Cumbria League Two.

Ambleside v St Benedicts

(Galava Park, 2.15pm)

AMBLESIDE will be looking to bounce back after defeat to Hawcoat as they face St Benedicts in a league and cup double-header at Galava Park.

Once again they go strong, with a formidable pack led by skipper Paul Longster in the second row backed up by partner-in-crime Reece Whitehouse.

Alfie White will play in the unfamiliar role of hooker, with stalwarts Steve Bragg and Paul Aires keeping him company in the front three.

The back row will have to be on their toes getting to the break-downs so Dave Clarke, Rory Seekings and Pip Houghton will be up and at them from the kick-off, putting the visitors under pressure.

Keenan Longster’s game keeps going from strength to strength causing opposition defences problems, so his inclusion could be massive as he links up with stand-off Matthew Middlemiss.

Centre-field will be controlled by Stephen Matthews and Will Lord who on their day can split defences at will. Out wide they have the dynamic duo of James Greenwwod and Tim Horsefell who need to see more of the ball if the team are going to turn over their West Cumbrian counterparts.
