Cadley U15s 2 Vickerstown U15s 8

VICKERSTOWN stormed into the last-four of the Lancashire FA Cup with a superb 8-2 quarter-final thrashing of Cadley.

The Barrow and District Junior Football League aces races into a 7-0 half-time lead lo leave their Preston hosts dumbstruck and out of the competition.

The battle of two in-form sides saw Town make a fast start, with Tommy Dawson opening the scoring within two minutes.

The early goal settled the visitors and they were quickly on the offensive again.

Max Green doubled the lead on 10 minutes and both he and Dawson had scored their hat-tricks by the break after a flurry of assists from their goalkeeper, defenders and midfielders.

Joe Hodgson also netted before the interval to put the result beyond doubt with half the match still to be played.

Cadley started the second half better than their opponents, who made a succession of changes that affected the rhythm of their play.

The hosts pulled a goal back on 50 minutes when one of their players was allowed a free header from a corner.

This woke up Vickerstown their slumber, with Jack Litherland, Hodgson, Green and Brody Luxon all going to adding to their tally.

Dawson was reintroduced and the striker made it 8-1 with his fourth goal of the game after good work from Hodgson.

With 10 minutes left, Cadley managed to get the ball quickly to one of their players who shot through a defender's legs on the edge of the area and into the bottom corner for a consolation goal.

Vickerstown created further chances but were unable to convert them.

Town had earned a place in the semi-final draw with a commanding display from the starting 11 and the two substitutes.
