DARTS world champs Adrian Lewis and Keith Deller are out to hit the bullseye at a sold-out Barrow event.

The duo will take to the stage at Hawcoat Park in October to display the arrows talent that has won them a combined three global crowns.

Lewis – the PDC champion in 2011 and 2012 – and his manager Deller – the 1983 winner and the first qualifier to win the championships, will battle it out with a raft of local players.

Tickets for the event sold out before they even went on general sale, with promoter Glenn Higgins delighted to be hosting two famous names and helping Hawcoat Park establish itself as a venue for big sporting stars.

“Adrian will be playing 16 members of the crowd and Keith will be playing six members of the crowd,” said Higgins. “The night will be hosted by the PDC referee Russ Bray.

“Adrian was unlucky at the World Championships this year – he got to the final and came up against a very good Gary Anderson. But he’s twice world champion and he’s won several major titles.

“It’s a big coup for us to get him up here, especially with the increasingly busy schedule he has. It will be a fantastic night.”

Some of the players who take on Lewis – nicknamed ‘Jackpot’ – and Deller will be decided on the night through a sale of raffle tickets, giving anyone in the audience the chance to battle one of the game’s best players.

The event takes place on October 13 – just weeks after five-times snooker world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan is a guest at Hawcoat Park.

Higgins hopes there will be more big names announced in the near future for the venue, and added: “I’ve almost been given a blank canvas by the club to make things happen.

“The people we will be getting here are going to be top-drawer people.

“There is a lot of energy at the club to make it into a premier entertainments venue – not just a sports club for teams.

“Some people might only frequent the venue on Bonfire Night, so it is a big thing for us to get people through the door with different types of night with people from different sports.”
