(after extra-time. Dalton win 5-4 on penalties)
DALTON Aces came through an intense penalty shootout to overcome Ulverston Rangers and reach the final of the Barrow and District Junior Girls Football League KO Cup.
The two under-14s sides matches each other all the way on the 3G pitch at Furness College, with neither able to break the deadlock during normal time and extra-time.
Both teams tried their hardest to wrest the initiative from the other, but the two goalkeepers were in fine form as it ended 0-0 after 50 minutes an again after 10 minutes of extra-time.
That set up a penalty shootout to decide who would play in the final at Holker Street in May, with each side successful with their first four.
Dalton keeper Phoebe Postlethwaite pulled off a save from the fifth Ulverston effort, meaning if Paige Edwards kept her nerve, then her team were through.
Edwards coolly slotted home to set up an all-Dalton final with Dalton Braves, who beat Barrow Celtic 9-0 in the other semi-final.
In the under-10s competition, Dalton Aces will play Barrow Celtic in the final, with Dalton Aces taking on Dalton Braves in the under-12s showpiece.
