BEN McDonald continued his good run of performances in regional competition at the Halton Two-Star.

On the back of victory in the junior event and a runners-up finish in the cadets event at the Blackpool Two-Star, McDonald headed to Widnes full of confidence.

The Furness Cricket Club player, showed his class once again as he reached the final of the cadets event.

Here, he came up against Lancashire county team-mate Rhys Davies – the player he had beaten in the semi-finals of the junior competition in Blackpool but who had defeated him in the final of the cadets.

Davies, ranked number nine in England, came out on top again this time around, but it was another successful trip for McDonald.

The talented Barrow teen has been in good form closer to home too.

Along with team-mates Matty Rigg and Ryan Cotton, he has helped the Furness CC team go undefeated in the Barrow and District League and climb into first place.

His efforts both at home and further afield have earned McDonald a sponsorship deal with Thorton Sports and Leisure, from Bury, who are Stiga agents for the area.
