BARROW table tennis ace Ben McDonald has made Barrow and District League history.
The youngster has become the first player from the league to be picked to play for Lancashire, after successful trials in Garstang.
McDonald will be part of the Cadet team after impressing with his displays on a day of competition.
He was selected for the side along with England number one Amril Hussain and number 24 Rhys David, who is just three places above the Furness CC player in the rankings.
McDonald's team-mate Matty Rigg just missed out on making the squad, but has been named as first reserve.
Rigg's sister Rebecca was also at the trials and, as a result, is first reserve for the girls junior. If the Lancashire County Association decide to enter two girls teams this year, she will be the top player in the second string.
The Rigg siblings followed up their trials battles with strong efforts in the Blackpool Two-Star Tournament.
Matty was runner-up in the Cadet Plate final and Rebecca won the Cadet title and was a losing semi-finalist in the junior competition.
