There were 15 schools battling it out on the 3G pitches, with the teams from Askam, St Columba’s, Chetwynde, South Walney, St Paul’s, Yarlside Academy, Holy Family, St Pius X, Cambridge Primary, Greengate Juniors, Dane Ghyll, Ormsgill, Barrow Island and Newbarns also keen to advance.
Having seen the tournament put back a week because of the cold snap, the sides were happy to see better, warmer weather this time around.
The winner of each of four groups progressed to the semi-finals, which were between St James and Newbarns and Chetwynde and Greengate. Both were close matches, and both finished 1-0, as St James and Chetwynde advanced.
All the girls from each of the four teams played attractive, high-quality football.
Chetwynde were the first to attack in the final and created several chances.
However, St James played counter-attacking football and were able to capitalise on the break, going 1-0 up with a well-taken finish.
The same tactics once again unravelled Chetwynde as St James managed to score another two goals after picking up the ball in their own half in a 3-0 victory.
Pulse Soccer thanked all the schools for attending and wished St James good luck in the next round.
The regional stage will take place next month, with the final of the competition taking place at Wembley before the National League promotion final on May 18.
