Copeland U14s 12 Barrow and District U14s 26

BARROW and District Under-14s claimed the Tri-District Cup in convincing style with victory over Copeland at Whitehaven's Recreation Ground.

Having already defeated Allerdale – made up of players from Workington and Maryport – 28-0, Barrow made no mistake on the road.

The visitors showed their intent as they scored in the first minute, with Millom's Daniel Hartley crashing over.

Some sloppy play by Barrow in the middle of the park enabled Copeland to draw level at 6-6 on four minutes, and this is how the scores stayed until the final minute of the first half.

With the interval looming, some good swift passing led to Walney's Ryan Wilson diving over in the corner and giving his side a 10-6 half-time advantage.

Four minutes into the second half, Copeland went 12-10 in front after a converted try.

Barrow were getting into a battle of the forwards, but they went over the whitewash out wide 12 minutes in as Walney's Rio Corkill touched down from close range to put them 14-12 up.

The South Cumbrians were starting to look dangerous when the ball was spread, and Corkill touched down again three minutes later for a 20-12 margin following a conversion from Millom's Jack Newbiggin.

Barrow were starting to look comfortable, and they finished off the scoring when Millom's Jamie Maguire went over the ensure the triumph.
