ANYONE for tennis? The children of Ulverston certainly enjoyed a good set or two during a week of coaching and games.

Ulverston Leisure Centre hosted five days of on-court action in the tennis centre for children aged from three up.

Coach George Spry helped the youngsters out with their skills over the course of five days, with his charges split into two groups for tiny tots (ages three to five), mini red and mini orange (five and above).

Ulverston Leisure Centre's Hannah Paling was pleased to see good numbers through the way course of the coaching, saying: “George does a lot of coaching and he has the children warming-up and playing games, even just throwing the ball around and working on their hand-eye coordination and so on.

“The younger ones work on more basic aspects, but the older children play games between themselves as well.

“They all enjoyed it and said that George was really good with them and made it fun.

“Tennis is more of a summer sport and, even though we do it all the year round, this is when the sport is really popular.”
