BARROW AFC B team suffered their first league defeat of the season when they went down 3-0 away to Blackpool Reserves yesterday afternoon.

With the first team in action against Bradford City last night, B team boss Jason Taylor’s side was mainly full of trialists, with one or two first-team players in the mix.

The Bluebirds went into the game with a 100 per cent record in the league, but were undone by a second-half Zak Emmerson hat-trick in the behind closed doors clash at Bloomfield Road.

The hosts created the first opening of the game on 10 minutes when a ball in behind fell to Emmerson on the right-hand side of the box.

But Blackpool’s hat-trick hero had yet to find his shooting boots, and fired his effort wide of the post.

The Seasiders continued to push forward, and went close to opening their account after Jake Daniels worked himself into some space on the left.

However, his strike was palmed behind by the triallist in the Barrow goal.

Barrow’s best chance of the first half came on the half-hour mark, but skipper Owen Bray’s driven effort was well saved by the Blackpool goalkeeper, down to his right.

Blackpool once again came close to opening the scoring just before the break when Josh Miles’ cross from the right was headed wide by Emmerson from close range.

Emerson finally found the target to put his side in front on 62 minutes.

The ball dropped to him inside the area, and the forward volleyed home into the bottom left corner.

Barrow pressed for an equaliser and came close when a corner from Trialist D found Trialist J at the far post, the latter heading just wide.

The Seasiders doubled their lead moments later - Daniels’ cross from the left was met at the near post by Emmerson, who made no mistake.

Taylor’s side continued to try to get back in the game and almost pulled one back with 15 minutes to play when Junior Tiensia’s cross from the right was met by Trialist E, but his header was saved by the Blackpool shot-stopper.

The hosts rounded off the scoring five minutes from time when Daniels and Emmerson combined again.

Daniels was the provider once more as Emmerson headed home his cross from the left.

Barrow XI: Trialist, Warren (Trialist 45’), Mazeed, Trialist, Tiensia, Trialist, Trialist, Bray (C) (Trialist 45’), Trialist, Trialist, Etaluku (Trialist 45’).
