We won’t give up what we’ve worked so hard for, that’s the message from Barrow AFC boss Pete Wild ahead of today’s clash with Grimsby.

The Bluebirds are currently sixth in the League Two table and just six points off an automatic promotion place.

Wild says his side have fought hard to get where they are and that they aren’t about to take their foot off the gas at this crucial stage of the campaign.

“We’ve had such a good month, and we have played so well this month, and we really want to finish that off,” he told The Mail.

“Momentum is massive in any team sport and we want to try to keep that going, especially at home today, where we have done so well.

“And at this stage of the season it is important that having performed so well, we keep the momentum going and make sure we keep moving in the direction.”

Wild knows his side won’t have it all their own way against the Mariners and says his squad are aware of what is required.

“I think in six out of the last seven they have been unbeaten,” he said.

“They had a blip against last Saturday against Wrexham and I’m sure they will want to get back to winning ways today.

“I’ve noticed since David’s gone in (David Artell who became Town boss last November), he’s changed how they play and how he wants them to play, and we are expecting a real tough test.

“They are a good side and they’ve got some really good players, and if we are not at our best we could come a cropper.”

The Bluebirds boss says his squad know what is expected of them and he has faith that they will continue to step up to the mark when called upon.

He added: “Everybody has got so much to play for both individually and collectively, so they all need to be ready, because if they don’t turn up when it’s their chance they could hamper themselves and they could hamper the team.

“Everybody knows the importance of the next four weeks, everybody knows what we are trying to achieve.

“We have worked so hard to get to where we are, so to get to the last month and let it all fizzle away is something that we are not prepared to do.

“We’ve got to take each game as it comes and I’ve sort of coined the phrase over the last few weeks of ‘think small, dream big’ and I think that’s what we’ve got to do.

“We have got to make sure we deal with Grimsby and that we are the best version of us.

“We’re Barrow, and we know if we are not the best version of us then we will get beat.”
