BARROW AFC boss Pete Wild has said he is happy to have a headache over his squad selection at the weekend after ‘a few players’ impressed him during a midweek reserve match.

It comes after the B team maintained their perfect Central League record on Tuesday courtesy of a second half brace from Jamie Proctor against Bolton’s B team at the Lostock Training Ground.

Jason Taylor, B team Head Coach opted to play a strong side by playing regular first-team starters Ben Whitfield, David Worrall and Tom White.

In a tightly contested affair, Proctor eventually opened the scoring as he capitalised on goalkeeper Jack Dallimore’s misplaced pass before rolling the ball into an empty net in the 75th minute.

The 31-year-old then punished Bolton failing to play out from the back ten minutes later when he calmly finished Owen Bray’s square pass.

Praising the performance of the B team, Wild said: “It’s really pleasing to see our B team playing well.

“It’s a chance for players to steak their claim and earn opportunities to get themselves into the squad. We’re really pleased with how that went and how it’s going.

“There’re a few players that have put themselves into contention. There’s a few that did really well. It’s important that we pick the right team and squad now for the weekend.

“We always have a headache because we have a bigger squad this year. It’s good that we’ve got these tough decisions to make.”

Junior Tiensia also marked his return to action by playing a full 90 minutes.

The 23-year-old left back suffered a serious ankle injury which has kept him out of action since October.

Commenting on the return of Junior to action, Wild added: “For him to get back out on the pitch and play a full 90 minutes is brilliant.

“I’m sure he would have been sore in the morning, but it’s great to see him back out there and in the fold.”
