BARROW AFC manager Pete Wild says it’s all about the here and now and not the end of the campaign.

With just 10 league games remaining, The Bluebirds are still well on target for their aim of making the play-off positions.

Currently sitting sixth in the League Two table – Wild’s men are just six points off an automatic promotion spot.

But the Barrow boss says he and his team can’t afford to look at the finish line, but instead must continue to take it one game at a time.

Speaking to The Mail, he said: “Yes we are coming to three homes games now, but that doesn’t mean we are going to win all three.

“We have to make sure we pay each game the respect it deserves and we take the challenge seriously.

“I don’t think it is going to be as clear-cut as people think. You look at the results on Tuesday night  (Wrexham's draw 0-0 draw with tomorrow's opponents Harrogate and Mansfield Town's 2-1 defeat away to Tranmere Rovers just two examples), and I think that gives you a real perspective on what’s going on in the league at the minute.

“It’s about not looking at the end goal which is six weeks away. It’s about looking at each week and making sure that we are the best version of ourselves each week.

“That’s what we’ve done so far to get us to this position and I’m not thinking of changing it now.

“It’s about thinking small and dreaming big. That is going to be the sort of strapline for the next six weeks.

“Making sure we take care of each game as it comes and making sure we don’t get ahead of ourselves.

“Your are hoping then that along the way there’s a few bumps for other teams and we can hold our consistency.”

Wild is hoping his side can build on the momentum they have gained from going unbeaten in their last three games, including the 1-1 draw away to Walsall in midweek.

“I’m really pleased with how we played midweek,” he added.

“As much as it was a good result and a good point on the road, it was also about how we played, how we are starting to play and how we want to play.

“So we are really pleased with how that’s gone and how it’s built over the last 10 days or the last three games.

“Now we want to finish this sort of mini-series of games in a positive way.”
