BARROW AFC boss Pete Wild has urged the fans to keep backing the players as they stick with their gameplan.

The Bluebirds are currently sixth in the table with 10 league games remaining following Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw away to Walsall.

Wild’s side suffered a minor blip in form as they lost three games on the bounce in recent weeks.

But now they have gone three games unbeaten, and with the business end of the season upon them Wild says it is about everyone holding their nerve.

He said: “We need to take every game as it comes, give it the respect it deserves and make sure we’re the best version of ourselves.

“A message to the fans is not to get frustrated, back the lads. It will get nervy at times and make sure that we will cheer the boys on.

“Look at the results (Tuesday night) and they’re madness. It will be like that for the next six weeks.

“Let’s take one game at a time. Let’s not count our chickens before they hatch and make sure we are the best version of ourselves for each game.

“That’s what’s done us well so far and stick to that method.”

The Bluebirds now have three successive home games, where they have picked up back-to-back victories in the past week.

And with six of their last 10 games at home that Holker Street form could be the difference in their bid for promotion.

But Wild stressed: “One thing we can’t do is just think we’re going to win those next three games.

“Harrogate have gone to Wrexham (Tuesday night) and drawn 0-0 which is a great result.

“I think they’ve had a real upturn in fortune since we played them in September.”

Wild hailed his side’s display in the 1-1 draw with the Saddlers in midweek.

“The biggest thing is the performance,” stressed Wild after the clash.

“We had some really good chances and we penned Walsall in with the way we played. That’s the really pleasing thing from the game.

“We were frustrated with the goal because he ran off one of our lads and we were annoyed about that.

“We got our just rewards. For all the chances we’ve had, we hit the bar and hit the post, we should be 2-0 behind in the first minute in the second half.

“When you look at the context and the game as a whole, any point on the road is a good point and that’s a good point.

“We’ve had our chances. We’re creating chances.

“Maybe a month ago we weren’t creating those chances. We weren’t dominating football matches. I’m really pleased with how we’re playing at the moment.

“I’m really pleased with the pressure we’re putting teams under and the chances we’re creating.

“When you come on the road, especially against a team that’s doing so well, you have sustained periods of possession.

“We’ve had two tough games and the more you have the ball the less running you have to do.”
