THE Mail is today launching a campaign for everyone to ‘Back The Bluebirds’ as Barrow AFC look to secure their first ever promotion to Sky Bet League One.

Barrow are currently sixth in League Two with 12 season-defining games to play - and have at least one game in hand on the majority of their rivals.

There are seven matches left to play at the SO Legal Stadium, and under the tutelage of Pete Wild, the Bluebirds currently sit just seven points off one of the top three automatic promotion places.

The team has gone from strength-to-strength under Wild, who has a 39%-win record since being appointed manager in May 2022.

His side has been positioned in the top seven throughout the campaign and boasts one of the best defensive records in the league having conceded just over one goal per game.

Goalkeeper Paul Farman and the back line take a lot of the plaudits in Barrow’s success, especially after the 34-year-old shot-stopper has helped the team keep 11 clean sheets so far already this season.

Opportunities to secure promotion do not come along every season. In Barrow’s case it has been four years since their last promotion.

On that occasion they returned to the EFL after being crowned champions of the National League.

That promotion, however, was during the COVID-19 pandemic when the final league table was decided on a points-per-game basis.

With all still to play for, a packed out and vociferous SO Legal Stadium cannot be underestimated.

Over 34 games Barrow AFC have captured the imagination of fans, and if they are to achieve what was for many the unthinkable at the start of the season, they need the town to help roar them over the line.

Who is to say they can’t do something spectacular with all the momentum of the county behind them?

The message of our campaign is simple: it is to board the bandwagon and get behind the town.

For those already doing so, support the manager and the team in the same loud and enthusiastic way you have been doing.

Barrow’s biggest home crowd came when 4,003 watched the Bluebirds secure a narrow 1-0 derby day win against Morecambe.

The atmosphere that night with the ‘Nightmare on Holker Street’ tifo was special.

Imagine the energy if that same bouncing like atmosphere was recreated for when Colchester, Harrogate, Newport, Grimsby, Swindon, Bradford and Mansfield all come to town.

Six of Barrow’s remaining home matches are against opposition who are below them in the table so let’s get behind the lads and help them to achieve what could be the club’s most successful season to date.

Whatever happens, let’s have no regrets come the end of the season and all know that we’ve played our part.

As the season reaches its climax, there’s only one thing left to do. Let’s Back The Bluebirds!
