BARROW AFC striker Cole Stockton has hit the ground running since joining the club on loan from Burton Albion until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old striker has netted four goals in his first six appearances, including the winning goal in Barrow’s 1-0 win over MK Dons on February 3.

Most recently, the six feet tall physical forward scored a brace in Barrow’s 5-3 defeat away to Salford on February 17.

He also scored the equalising goal in Barrow’s 2-1 defeat to Forest Green Rovers on February 13.

The Merseyside striker born out of Huyton in the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley signed a professional contract for Tranmere Rovers in April 2012 after overcoming a serious bout of septicaemia during a trial at the club at the age of 13.

He originally made a name for himself at Morecambe having signed for the club in the 2019-20 season from Tranmere Rovers after enjoying two successful previous loan spells.

Stockton went on to score 59 goals in 179 appearances in all competitions for the Shrimps before signing for Burton Albion at the start of this season.

However, after only making 10 appearances for The Brewers this campaign, the decision was made that a loan move would be the best possible option.

His experience will be crucial in the 12 games remaining in the hope of the Bluebirds securing at least a play-off place come the end of the season.
