Barrow Raiders round off their pre-season preparation when they entertain League One opposition Hunslet at Craven Park tomorrow (Sunday, kick off 3pm).

Having put three victories in a row over Barrow and District, North Wales Crusaders and Rochdale, Paul Crareys squad could be playing their last home game for sometime.

The next two weekends will take on visits to Workington and Whitehaven in the 1895 cup with all eyes on the third round draw of the Rugby League Challenge cup on January 29.

The club will be hoping for a home tie which takes place on the weekend of February 10/11.

If successful in the 1895 cup, Barrow would be looking for a home draw with games taking place on February 18.

Cup games go on until March 3.

The Championship season opens on March 17 however Widnes are the first opponents away on day one followed by a trip to Whitehaven on Good Friday.

Ramon Silva is set to make his first appearance for Barrow. Silva was scheduled for last Sunday against Rochdale however he pulled up in the pre-match warm-up and was not risked.

The physios have now given the former Wigan forward the green light.

Crarey is delighted to get him on the park. He said: “Ramon had light spasms in his back and we decided not to play him. This week he has been involved with the other lads in bouts of wrestling and came through very well.

"I am looking forward to seeing Ramon in action. He is a big strong unit with loads of enthusiasm, and I would think he is going to be a fan favourite. He has been with Wigan for two years so he comes with a good education.”

Tom Walker, who only played last week when Silva withdrew, picked up a tear in his foot and could be sidelined for two to three weeks.

Josh Wood is rated 50-50 as he has a shoulder problem and will take advice from the physio department.

On the plus side “Magic” Mike Ogunwole is back in the squad after missing out last weekend as he was on duty for the British Army. Set to make his first appearance next Sunday at Workington is season-long loan player Harvey Makin. T

he young forward played several games last season with Barrow and Wigan had no hesitation in allowing this loan period.
