Barrow Raiders half-back Brad Walker is hoping their final pre-season match will put the squad in a good place for their upcoming return to competitive action.
The Raiders welcome Betfred League One side Hunslet to Craven Park on Sunday as they look to round off their pre-season in style with a third successive win.
Paul Crarey’s side have already beaten Rochdale Hornets 46-6 and North Wales Crusaders 32-18 in friendly home encounters this month.
Speaking to the club website after their most recent victory over North Wales, Walker, who signed a two-year deal at his hometown club last month, said: “It was good to get the win.
“We were a bit rusty and still working on combinations, but it’s always going to be like during the second game of the year.
"There’s a lot to work on. As long as I’m out there playing with a ball in my hand, I’m happy. A win always helps too.”
The match against Hunslet will be a last opportunity to impress before competitive rugby returns with a trip to local rivals Workington Town in the 1895 Cup group stages on January 28.
Looking ahead to the meeting with Hunslet, Walker added: “I’m looking forward to it, hopefully another tough challenge.
“There are a lot of learning curves for us, then it’s away at Workington where we can hopefully get another win.”
