Barrow AFC manager Ian Evatt was very disappointed with a couple of decisions that went against his team in their frustrating 2-1 defeat at Bromley.

Once again, the Bluebirds dominated possession, but an inability to deal with set-pieces left them with nothing at Hayes Lane, as Omar Bugiel’s free header and Frankie Raymond’s soft free kick condemned them.

But they have a real case in protesting the Ravens’ first goal, as Raymond was clearly offside in receiving the ball back following a short corner routine.

Dan Jones also appeared to be hard done by in being penalised for knocking over Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe, which led to Bromley’s winner.

Evatt said: “I thought we were very good in the second half, outstanding in fact, and probably a couple of refereeing decisions have cost us the game.

“That’s not us making excuses, but I don’t think they can get that wrong.

“It’s tough to take at the minute, but we’ve got to dust ourselves done and work hard in the week, ahead of the game on Saturday.

“I haven’t seen it yet, but the lads are adamant the second goal was offside, so we’ll have to have a look because that would be two offsides for their goals.”

The Bluebirds boss made a couple of changes before half-time, but while bringing off his captain, Josh Granite, for the returning Brian Wilson, was a tactical switch, losing Luke Burgess was something taken out of his hands.

The attacking midfielder took a blow to the side of his head just under half an hour in, with the other side crashing against the artificial surface as he landed heavily.

Thankfully, the injury appeared to be not as bad as it looked, with the 19-year-old Wigan loanee feeling in much better shape by half-time.

Evatt said: “Luke just got a nasty knock, having got an elbow to the face and got a nasty cut on his lip and bruised teeth.

“Lee Molyneux got a slight hamstring [pull]. Josh Granite wasn’t injured – it was just that I felt that if we were going to dominate with the ball that much, Brian is probably more comfortable in stepping out with the ball into midfield than Josh is.”
