Barrow AFC’s new loan signing Erico Sousa has been making a big impression on the training ground with his new club already, with the Portuguese winger set to make his debut at Bromley tomorrow.

Sousa arrived on Monday on a one-month deal from League One side Accrington Stanley, where the 23-year-old had been struggling for game time.

Bluebirds manager Ian Evatt has been impressed by what he’s seen from him early on from the pacey wide man, who he hopes will add a more direct option to his attack.

Evatt said: “He comes into the plans for Saturday, definitely. He trained with us for the first time on Tuesday and was he was exceptional, so he’s put his case forward.

“I think he’ll help us and obviously he’s come to play games, so hopefully you’ll see over the next few games what he can do because he looks a very good talent.

“He has been short of game time, but from the way he trained with us it didn’t look to me that he’s short of anything, to be honest.

“He looked great and fingers crossed he can take that into the game on Saturday.”

Barrow will be without Sousa’s fellow loanees Rhys Norrington-Davies and Rory Holden at Bromley, with the two youngsters on international duty with Wales’ and Northern Ireland’s under-21 squads, respectively.

But Connor Brown and Josh Kay will be available again after missing last week’s win over Sutton with suspension, while defender Jack Barthram has recovered from a recent illness.

Evatt said: “We’re looking okay, injury-wise – Matty Elsdon and Rhys Turner are getting better every day and they’re probably three or four weeks away.

“Hopefully we can have a fully fit squad soon and really kick on.

“We can take nothing for granted, as a lot of hard work goes into getting results and hopefully we can continue to improve day in day out with these players.”
