TOM Walker has extended his stay with Barrow Raiders for another two years after becoming the latest member of the squad to agree a new deal with the club.

The former Warrington Wolves and Workington Town prop has made a big impression both on and off the field since moving to Craven Park, having worked as part of the club’s community team until changing jobs earlier this year.

And Raiders rugby director Andy Gaffney is delighted to have secured Walker’s services on again.

“He’s a player we always wanted to keep on and it’s great he’s signed a two-year deal,” said Gaffney.

“He gives us a lot of go-forward, he runs hard and he’s very skilful, and any club would want him in their side.”

“He’s worked in the schools and he did really well. He’s very well-known around the town and he’s a very good character, on and off the field.”

Gaffney believes the 23-year-old re-signing is also indicative of the type of team the Raiders are trying to put together for the 2019 Betfred Championship season.

“It shows what we’re trying to build at Barrow - a really exciting, young team and they’ll be all guns blazing on the pitch next year,” said Gaffney.
