NEWCOMER Sam Wicks was the star of the show for Furness as they romped to a 92-3 win over Creighton in Cumbria League Two on Saturday.

Winger Wicks ran in a hat-trick of tries during the match at the Strawberry Grounds, earning the man of the match award in the process.

Tom Brannon, Daniel Birch and Karl Benn were among the other try-scorers for the hosts, with scrum-half Sam Dutton on form with the boot to in his first game back following the end of the cricket season.

The emphatic victory was the perfect way for Furness to bounce back from the previous week’s defeat away to Aspatria Eagles, where they were short on numbers, and puts them third in the early Cumbria League Two standings.

They travel to a Moresby side who sit just below them on points difference this Saturday.

Elsewhere, Millom’s second outing of the league campaign saw them suffer a 40-0 defeat away to Carlisle Crusaders.

Millom host Egremont this Saturday and Windermere, who were without a game over the weekend, are at home to early league leaders Silloth.
