NAVY B overcame a slow start on the snooker table to score an emphatic 19-10 win over Roose Cons in the first round of Barrow Friday League MW Flooring Knockout Cup matches.

Les Major won the first game for Roose against stand-in player Pat Kyle, followed by Dave Kewley beating Joe O’Leary in the top man’s game.

Andy Charnley pulled one back for Navy in the final snooker match against Nick Wilkes and from then on, the hosts took control.

It was much closer between British Legion A and Vickerstown CC, which saw the former edge to a 16-14 victory.

The welch don games went to the away side 6-5, but Legion A had done enough to secure victory.

Legion’s first-team progressed as well, beating BFSC by the same two-point margin.

They were indebted to the other treble winner of the week, Allan Edmondson, who scored victories in the billiards, darts and welch don.

Jimmy Christe and Adam Cook won their snooker matches to see BSFC take an early lead, but Edmondson’s efforts on the billiards table were matched by Kevin Quinn and Colin Taylor for Legion.

BSFC dominated the darts, winning 5-2, but Legion had the edge of the card table to take a 6-5 win and go through.
