GEORGE Smith welcomes back several key players as Hawcoat Park return to action in Cumbria League One away to St Benedict’s, writes Jason Meadows.
The pack will be key this week and has the front three off John Donnan, Andy Kent and Paul Woodburn in the front row.
There is more power in the engine room, with the influential Ash Mowatt and A-team skipper Matt Robson stepping up.
Another person stepping up from the second string is Chris Milby, sharing the back row with the returning Mike Lightfoot and Jack Sutherland.
Things are more settled in the back line, where James Howden links in with Hawcoat captain Smith at fly-half in the pursuit of quick ball for pacey centres Lewis Sayle and Chris Burns.
Wide men Rodney Odondi and Glenn Kaigan are more than capable of getting on the score board, as is full-back Benji Platt.
Hawcoat’s A-team are on the road in the North West Intermediate League when they travel to early Division Four North leaders Aspull.
Peter Jennens leads his team from the back row, where there is plenty of competition for places. Martin Kennedy will likely share the second row berth with Corey Doughtyn.
Mike Gibson, Ryan Brown and the returning Mark Hall comprise the front three, and last week’s try scorers Peter Matthews and Jack Lord will no doubt looking to get over the try-line again out wide.
