NATHAN Waterston could be out for up to three or four months due to an upcoming operation on the shoulder injury which has kept him on the sidelines for Barrow AFC recently, writes Liam Bewsher.

The Bluebirds forward is set to go in on October 1 to have a procedure on the injury, which has prevented him playing since being substituted in the 53rd minute of the 2-1 defeat at home to Solihull Moors on September 1.

Barrow boss Ian Evatt has kept his cards close to his chest on the extent of Waterston’s injury, only going as far as to say when asked recently: “He’s injured; he has got a bad shoulder.”

However, it is understood Waterston has now been given a day for an operation on an injury which he picked up in pre-season and had played through until the need to fix it arose.

Waterston had started the Vanarama National League season brightly, despite playing through the injury.

The 21-year-old Barrovian had been switching from left to right and assisted Jason Taylor’s opener against Salford City at the Peninsula Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday.

He also impressed at the back end of last season, scoring a thumping header against Fylde at Holker Street.
