IAN Evatt praised Barrow’s style of play, but admitted his frustration at a fifth winless result following Saturday’s 1-1 draw away to Boreham Wood in the Vanarama National League.

The Bluebirds had been on course for a first win since August 25, when John Rooney put them ahead in the 82nd minute.

However, a wonder strike from Boreham Wood’s Kieran Murtagh salvaged them a point, when he netted a 93rd minute equaliser.

“I am gutted for the lads,” Evatt said “I think that for the fourth game running, we have deserved to win the match.

“It is a difficult place to come, they have got a lot of big, physical players, who constantly test you and put it on you and we have stood up to that.

“We have been outstanding in the second half and taken over the game. We got ourselves one up, but then a wonder strike in the 93rd minute kills us. We can’t lose heart though, I am really pleased, and we are getting there, slowly but surely.

“We all played really well, and we probably deserved to the win the game and it is unfortunate that we didn’t. But, we move on, we dust ourselves down and we keep improving.”

Recent loan signings Rhys Norrington-Davies and Rory Holden both came into the side as Evatt stacked the deck in search of victory.

The 36-year-old praised the duo, while also disclosing the length of their loan deals.

“They are very good players, we are lucky to have two international footballers with us and I am lucky enough to be trusted with them. They are just an initial month, but we will probably extend them until January.

“I am really proud of my team and the way that we try and play football.”
