DAN Jones and Nathan Waterston have both been recognised for their individual efforts this year after being nominated for accolades in this year’s North West Football Awards.
Jones has been nominated for North West National League player of the season following a year in which 23-year-old has been ever-present for Barrow under all four managers to have taken charge during that period.
He has been putting in a string of impressive displays for Barrow at left-centre-back too, which is one of many roles that the former Grimsby Town man has had to play.
Meanwhile, forward Waterston has impressed since coming to Holker Street from Workington last March.
The 21-year-old has been nominated for rising star of the year, but has Premier League competition in that category in Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Burnley’s Dwight McNeil and Manchester City’s Lukas Nmecha.
“It’s always nice to get awards obviously,” said Barrow boss Ian Evatt. “It’s good for two young players to give them confidence and to help them progress.
“Dan Jones is a player I have got a lot of admiration for, I believe that centre-back is his position and he’ll progress into a really good player.
“Nathan is also a good young player, it’s unfortunate that he’s injured and has to have a spell on the side lines.”
